Rep. Thomas Massie has proposed a bill (HR 185) that aims to eliminate the need for foreign travelers to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination based on a requirement by the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The bill will be voted on in the House of Representatives next week.
The Massie bill's progress is noteworthy because most introduced legislation does not reach the voting process. Representative Massie introduced the bill on January 9 and has gained 22 Republican cosponsors within a few weeks.
Despite this, the CDC's order mandating proof of COVID vaccination for non-U.S. citizens traveling to the United States is still effective. This makes the U.S. one of the few countries that continues to require visitors to take an unsuccessful pharmaceutical product.
I think the bill may pass the house. However, it's uncertain whether it will pass the Senate, as their approval rate is higher. The bill is also at risk of being vetoed by the president, should he choose to exercise that power.
The passage of this legislation may face strong opposition from the cartel bosses in charge of Big Pharma. Therefore, it’s important to use your political influence or voice to encourage your representative to support this bill.
