He openly acknowledged that he and his wife, surgeon Apoorva Ramaswamy, hold differing views on the matter, a sentiment they both accept. Apoorva, a laryngologist at Ohio State University, stands by her decision to get vaccinated, emphasizing her responsibility to safeguard her immunocompromised patients.
She explained that the decision differed for her husband, considering his youth and good health, contrasting with her high-stakes role in the healthcare field. Apoorva believes granting people autonomy in their health choices is crucial.
In contrast, Vivek, speaking on the All-In podcast in July, expressed remorse for his vaccination, asserting he would have chosen differently with current knowledge. He frequently asserts that the U.S. government misled the public about vaccine information before mandates, and criticizes Dr. Anthony Fauci's decisions during the pandemic.
During a campaign interaction in New Hampshire, Vivek highlighted the value of open disagreement, sharing that he and his wife occasionally hold differing political views, underscoring the strength of democratic discourse.
Apoorva adds that despite their disagreements on some issues, they are aligned on matters they hold most dear.
